A total of 28 best environmental practices from local companies and entities are vying for the 2026 Green Pact Awards, organized by the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council, recognizing environmental commitment. The awards ceremony will take place on November 26th at the Europa Congress Palace, as part of the XIII Green Pact Meeting for companies. This biennial event brings together over 500 local organizations of all sizes and sectors, and is also open to the general public.
In this 10th edition, the most outstanding corporate experiences and actions from 2025 and 2026 in Vitoria-Gasteiz will be awarded in three categories: Microenterprise, Small Enterprise, and Medium and Large Enterprise. Each award carries a €2,000 economic endowment. Additionally, an honorary award, without financial endowment, will be presented to companies within the Green Pact Community outside Vitoria-Gasteiz, public corporations, public law entities, non-profit organizations, and those involved in associative and professional activities.
The municipal Green Pact initiative, born within the Vitoria-Gasteiz European Green Capital 2012 program, was a pioneer in Europe. Since its inception, over 500 local firms from various sectors have joined this project.
The XIII Green Pact Meeting will commence on Thursday, November 26th, at 7:00 PM in the Europa Congress Palace and will feature an intervention by Mercedes Maroto-Valer, a Vitoria-Gasteiz-born scientist and researcher who leads the UK's Industrial Decarbonisation Innovation and Research Centre (IDRIC) and is also the Vice-Chancellor for Global Sustainability at Heriot-Watt University (Edinburgh). Among her many accolades is the Order of the British Empire for her services in low-energy technologies.
The event will also include a collaborative musical activity, guided by Estíbaliz Urquiza, a specialist in vocal technique and choral direction. This meeting will be free of charge and open to all citizens.
