The town of Zumaia will celebrate Euskal Jai Eguna this Friday, August 7th. Throughout the day, the town will be filled with music, culture, and events, inviting people of all ages to participate.
The festivities will begin at 9:00 AM with the dulzainas players from the Zumaia Music School. Afterwards, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the Old Town will host a market of farm products, and the streets will be filled with music.
In the midday, bertsolaris Miren Artetxe and Xabat Illarregi will perform from the balcony of the Town Hall and the Cofradía balcony starting at 12:00 PM. Simultaneously, the group Zutrik will play trikitixa tunes, and a song parade organized by Larraina Euskara Elkartea and Korokoiak will commence.
The communal meal will gather hundreds of people at 1:00 PM in the Eusebio Gurrutxaga square, and after the meal, Joxe Mendizabal will liven up the atmosphere.
In the afternoon, at 6:00 PM, there will be a children's dance in Amaia square with Joxe Mendizabal. An hour later, in Eusebio Gurrutxaga square, trikitixa players Jagoba and Maddalen and the txaranga band Jainekin will perform.
From 7:00 PM onwards, the Association of Gipuzkoa Cider Producers will offer a cider tasting in Eusebio Gurrutxaga square. Here, there will be an opportunity to taste ciders from ten producers, with glasses available for 2 euros and cups for 3 euros. Glasses and cups can be returned until 9:00 PM.
The day will conclude at 10:30 PM with a dance performance by the group Laket in Amaia square. In case of bad weather, the performance will take place in the Cofradía.
The Town Council has thanked the residents of the Old Town for their patience and understanding regarding the inconveniences caused by the market setup, neighborhood preparation work, and container relocation.
