The Urola guesthouse and Etxeberri hotel in Zumarraga, as well as the Lenbur Foundation in Legazpi, have received recognition from the Basque Country Tourism Ethical Code at an event held at San Mamés stadium in Bilbao.

A total of nineteen establishments in the Urola Garaia region have now received recognition from the Basque Country Tourism Ethical Code. This program, led by the Basque Tourism Agency Basquetour, aims to promote more responsible, sustainable tourism committed to the values of the territory.
The Ethical Code is based on six core principles: mutual respect between visitors and local residents, equality within diversity, environmental responsibility, valuing local traditions and culture, protecting cultural heritage, and excellence in the sector and its professionals. Several companies in the Goierri Garaia area have committed to this type of tourism, achieving the corresponding recognitions.
The latest additions to the ethical register are the Urola guesthouse and Etxeberri hotel in Zumarraga, and the Lenbur Foundation in Legazpi. They received their recognition on Wednesday at an event held at San Mamés stadium in Bilbao. At the same event, those who have renewed their commitment, continuing the path started in 2020, were also highlighted, including the Antio Tourist Office in Zumarraga, the Bergaretxe Geltokia Apartments in Legazpi, and the Igartubeiti Farmhouse Museum in Ezkio-Itsaso.
Furthermore, Urola Garaia Turismoa also received recognition at the event for its adherence to the Smart Tourist Destination (STD) model. This reinforces its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement of the destination.
As a result of all these recognitions, Goierri Garaia is positioned as a responsible and sustainable destination, responding to the current challenges of the tourism sector and promoting regional values.
