Train service between Zarautz and Zumaia suspended due to locomotive derailment

A maintenance locomotive has derailed, blocking the line between the two towns.

Train services between Zarautz and Zumaia have been suspended since early morning after a locomotive, undergoing night maintenance work, derailed.

Euskotren is providing bus services between the two stations until the line can be restored. The incident occurred around 5:30 AM, and the locomotive is still obstructing the track.
According to Euskal Trenbide Sarea, the unit derailed around 5:30 AM and became "stuck" on the track. Efforts are currently underway to remove the damaged unit and reopen the line.
In the meantime, bus services are operating between the two stations.
