The San Nicolás festivals are introducing a significant novelty this year: the first Youth Day, scheduled for December 7th. For this occasion, organizers have prepared a special program to bring together crews and groups of friends, with the communal meal being one of the main highlights, complemented by a paella contest. Participants will be required to prepare the meal as a team.
Tickets for the meal will go on sale tomorrow, November 6th, at the Tourism Office starting from 17:00. Each ticket will cost 6 euros. When registering, participants must provide their full names, t-shirt sizes, and contact details for each crew or group. To streamline organization, a representative from each group, consisting of at least five people, must visit the Tourism Office to purchase the tickets.
The Youth Day program will commence at 10:45 AM in the town square with the distribution of t-shirts. Following this, participants will enjoy a street parade accompanied by the local band through the streets of Orio. At 12:00 PM, crews and groups of friends will gather at the sports area next to Mendibeltz to begin preparing the paellas, where the communal meal will take place.
The Orio City Council will provide participants with various resources, including cider, a tent, t-shirts, rice, tables, and chairs. However, all other necessary materials, such as cooking fires, kitchen utensils, paella ingredients, plates, forks, and glasses, must be brought by each crew and group.
After the meal, participants will be responsible for clearing tables and chairs and cleaning the used kitchen utensils. The City Council will provide a sink for this purpose. To ensure proper organization, all attendees must assist with the post-meal cleaning and tidying tasks. Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy games.
