As part of their strategy to humanize and bring services closer to patients, Osakidetza and the Cancer Association in Álava have established a new psicosocial support service at the Agurain Health Center, operational every Friday starting this week.
This initiative complements Osakidetza's care services with community resources within the healthcare facilities. According to Enrique Bárez, general manager of OSI Araba, "The incorporation of this new care space in Agurain allows us to continue advancing in the shared commitment between Osakidetza and the Cancer Association in Álava to offer more accessible and personalized care. Our goal is to support cancer patients and their families throughout their treatment process, integrating resources that complement our professionals' work and contribute to improving their physical, emotional, and social well-being."
“"This is another step to bring our services closer to those who need us and to promote a humanized care model, aiming to improve the quality of life for cancer patients in Álava; all of this completely free of charge."
Miren Bilbao, president of the Cancer Association in Álava, stated, "This is another step to bring our services closer to those who need us and to promote a humanized care model, aiming to improve the quality of life for cancer patients in Álava; all of this completely free of charge." She also expressed gratitude to Osakidetza for their commitment.
The psicosocial support will be available to the entire population of Llanada Alavesa, which numbers 12,905 people. Appointments can be booked by calling the free phone number 900 100 036. All services offered are free.
This new service complements those already offered at the headquarters of the Cancer Association in Álava, in Vitoria-Gasteiz, as well as at the Olaguibel Health Center, the Lakuabizkarra Health Center, and the Araba University Hospital.
The opening of the service at the Agurain Health Center aims to deepen a humanized, accessible, and committed approach, placing cancer patients and their families at the center to enhance their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Cancer is the leading cause of death in Euskadi, and the joint objective is to achieve a 70% survival rate by 2030.
