As part of the Azpeitia Dantzan program, 55 sword dancers and a dozen txistularis from the Sahatsa group will participate in this event. The previous two celebrations were held in Urrestilla and Azkoitia.
The performance will begin at 7:20 PM from Basazabal Palace, and the sword dancers and txistularis will proceed to the town square of Azpeitia to receive the municipal flag from the town hall. Afterward, they will move from Elizkale to the front of the parish church of San Sebastián de Soreasu, where they will perform the sword dance and flag dance.
Following this, they will ascend through Erdikale to the town square, arriving around 8:00 PM. There, they will once again perform the sword dance and flag dance, and also present a show of five traditional dances from Gipuzkoa. At the conclusion of the event, the municipal flag will be returned to the town hall, and the dancers will retire to Basazabal Palace.
The first act of Sahatsa's 50th-anniversary sword dance was held in Urrestilla in June, and the second act in Azkoitia on San Juan's Eve, June 24th.
This year's Azpeitia Dantzan program began on June 27th, and has already featured other dance performances, such as those by students from the Luix Beltza loose dance school and the Juan Antxieta music school, as well as a ballroom dance performance by the Dantzaki school. On the 19th of this month, Itsasi will present a show at the Soreasu theater.
