Urrategi Day is a significant date on the calendar for many Azkoitia residents, and this year the neighborhood once again witnessed a large influx of locals and visitors gathering to enjoy the festivities. The bus service organized by the Azkoitia City Council facilitated travel for many attendees.
In the morning, two masses were held as usual, with the 11:00 AM service being the main one. Following the religious ceremonies, attendees had the opportunity to eat and drink at the neighborhood's social club. Afterward, the program continued with music and bertsolari performances, featuring bertsolaris Joanes eta Xabat Illarregi and trikitixa musicians Zabale, Aintzane Agirrebeña, and Lutxurdio.
In the afternoon, children's games, bouncy castles, and workshops were organized, and there was also a chance to enjoy the magic of Maria Arandia. This was followed by a display of traditional Basque sports, with stone lifters Haritz Aranguren 'Norde' and Lierni Osa, and wood choppers Julen Alberdi 'Txikia IV' and Iker Vicente delivering an impressive performance.
The festivities concluded with a romeria (traditional Basque festival dance) led by trikitixa musicians Zabale, Aintzane Agirrebeña, and Lutxurdio. The festive atmosphere had already begun in Urrategi prior to the main day; on Friday, a successful mus tournament took place with 47 pairs participating, and on Saturday, a communal meal to strengthen neighborhood ties brought together around 60 people.
Additionally, the tradition of a raffle was upheld, with a prize basket being drawn. The winning number was 0702.
