This women's World Tour race will offer three days of top-level cycling across the intricate roads of the Basque Country. Although a potential start in Sestao was initially discussed, Zarautz will ultimately host the start and finish of the first stage.
The second stage will take place in Bizkaia, connecting Abadiño with Amorebieta-Etxano. The race will conclude in Donostia, following a route similar to the renowned Klasika de Donostia, as in previous editions of the Basque women's World Tour event.
The inaugural day, starting and finishing in Zarautz, will cover 121.2 kilometers, with a positive elevation gain of 2,239 meters and six third-category mountain passes. Zarautz is also the hometown of Usoa Ostolaza, a cyclist for Laboral Kutxa-Euskadi and currently the best Basque representative.
The second stage, between Abadiño and Amorebieta-Etxano, will span 138 kilometers with an accumulated elevation gain of 2,474 meters and five third-category mountain passes. Amorebieta-Etxano has a strong connection to cycling, having organized the defunct Gran Premio de Primavera and recently serving as a stage finish in the Itzulia and the start of the third stage of the Tour in 2023.
The final stage will be concentrated in Donostia, covering a distance of 113.1 kilometers and an elevation gain of 1,729 meters. It will include three categorized climbs: one first-category, one second-category, and one third-category. In total, this fifth edition of the premier Basque race will feature a demanding course of 372.4 kilometers and 14 categorized climbs.
