The Department of Mobility of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa has announced an extension to the schedule of the UK01 bus line, improving the service between Azkoitia and Donostia.

From now on, Monday to Friday, the last buses on this line will depart from Azkoitia at 21:15 and from Donostia at 22:25. These new services will be implemented starting June 15th.
Previously, an additional bus was only offered on Fridays with a different schedule: departing from Azkoitia at 20:45 and from Donostia at 22:05. The council stated that delaying the schedule and extending the service from Monday to Friday will better serve citizens who finish work later.
The new service will significantly ease the daily commutes for residents of Urola Erdia to Donostia. It will also help avoid the use of private vehicles or reliance on others, ensuring equal opportunities and autonomy for passengers.

"As we continue to adapt the service to the real needs of users, we will achieve that more and more people choose the bus."

The announcement was made by deputy Azahara Dominguez following a meeting this week with the mayors Ana Azkoitia of Azkoitia, Nagore Alkorta of Azpeitia, and Mikel Arregi of Zestoa, as well as Jose Luis Iraeta, manager of the bus company La Guipuzcoana. During the meeting, they discussed the improvements to the UK01 line and expressed their commitment to continued collaboration in enhancing public transport in the region. The council also noted that they are working to improve the connection of services that will transport residents of Urola Erdia to the hospital area of Donostia.
