The Inmo Azkue Pulpo senior women's team celebrates their promotion to the Gipuzkoa First Division after a near-perfect season, achieving thirteen victories in fourteen matches.

The celebration erupted on the court as soon as the final whistle blew in Bergara (Gipuzkoa), confirming the promotion of the Inmo Azkue Pulpo senior women's team to the Gipuzkoa First Division in their very first season after the club's reformation. They have had an outstanding season, securing thirteen victories out of fourteen games.
Players June Uranga Esnaola and Nerea Bernal Korta highlighted teamwork, confidence, and the club's support as key factors for their promotion. "We all felt we had achieved the goal. It was a very special moment, filled with joy and pride. All the hard work throughout the season came to mind," Bernal stated. Uranga also expressed her satisfaction with the win in Bergara: "It was special because we lost there in the first round, so this victory had a unique flavor."
Regarding pressure, they were clear from the outset that the objective was promotion. "A bit of tension arose among us when difficult matches approached, but above all, enthusiasm has been dominant," explained Bernal. Uranga added that the defeat against Bergara gave them "a small blow, because we saw they were a strong opponent, but at the same time, it motivated us even more to keep working."
The team has only lost one match this season. Nerea Bernal admitted they felt "a bit of frustration, but it was a very close game and we didn't have bad feelings. We were happy with the work done." They clearly understood from the initial meetings that significant commitment was necessary, and Uranga said they play handball "because we enjoy it." During challenging times, players from the youth team also provided substantial support.
When asked why they are so difficult to beat, Bernal emphasized, "We have great confidence in the team. We have believed in the goal from the start, and the mutual support has helped us immensely in difficult moments." To build this confidence, the coaches and captains have been instrumental in decision-making, always considering the team's opinion. The atmosphere off the court has also strengthened the team, utilizing "dinners and time spent together."
Promoting to the first division with Pulpo holds special significance for the club. "The club has believed in us from the beginning and has supported us. The atmosphere created in the locker room is also noteworthy, as we have often felt the fans' encouragement on the court," said Bernal. The role of parents has also been "very important."
Uranga and Bernal are clear that the promotion is more of a "starting point" than a final destination, and they aim to continue growing. The main challenge in the first division lies in their lack of experience, "we are a very young team, and in the first division, there will be teams with extensive experience. That will likely be the biggest difference compared to other teams."
