This morning, the Council of Deputies of the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council met in Azkoitia, at the Intsausti Palace. Led by Deputy General Eider Mendoza, seven deputies were present, accompanied by the mayor Ana Azkoitia. The purpose of this meeting was to extend the institution's work throughout Gipuzkoa and to its citizens.
Mr. Mendoza emphasized that Gipuzkoa has "deep roots" and, referring to the history of the Intsausti Palace, stated that "the values of reason, progress, and science are deeply ingrained in us, as is our stance in favor of our language and culture." By holding the Council of Deputies in Azkoitia, he reaffirmed the "commitment to continue strengthening these values through collaboration."
The aim of the itinerant Council of Deputies is to learn about the challenges and projects of Gipuzkoa's municipalities, strengthen mutual cooperation to implement them, and bring the institutions' work closer to the citizens. Prior to the meeting, the mayor of Azkoitia and Deputy General Mendoza discussed various projects concerning both Azkoitia and Gipuzkoa. "When institutions work together, we are capable of promoting measures and projects that directly benefit our community and strengthen its development," said Mendoza, praising Azkoitia as a "dynamic town."
The mayor of Azkoitia also echoed Mendoza's sentiments, expressing her intention to continue collaborating with the provincial council. "In times of such significant political detachment, it is important to bring our institutions closer to the citizens and to value them," she said, recalling that the Intsausti Palace is the cradle of the Enlightenment. "Today's challenges cannot be addressed individually. Therefore, we wanted to take advantage of today's opportunity to share the main projects we have in the town with the Deputy General," she added.
After the meeting concluded, the deputies, guided by the mayor of Azkoitia, toured several points of interest in the town, including Balda Square, Plazaberri, the Floreaga neighborhood, the main square, and Berdura Square.
