This virtual challenge encourages registered individuals to take the highest number of steps within a specified period. It is aimed at municipalities with a Sports Orientation Service and uniquely, steps will be recorded via a mobile application that participants download.
The challenge is open to all individuals over 14 years of age from each registered town. Its main objective is to improve physical and emotional health, as well as to promote active lifestyles. The City Council encourages the public to get involved in this proposal, emphasizing that it is an accessible and simple opportunity to incorporate more movement into daily life.
Those interested in participating must download the Wellk application on their mobile devices, available for both Android and iOS. Once installed, they need to register and access the “Mugiment Pauso Erronka” section to select the group corresponding to their municipality. From that moment, the application will automatically count each participant's daily steps, allowing for close monitoring of both individual and collective progress.
One of the challenge's features is its real-time leaderboards. Participants can check their position and that of their municipality at any time relative to the other involved localities. This competitive element aims to boost participation and maintain motivation throughout the three weeks of the challenge.
At the end of the Mugiment Pauso Erronka, various prizes will be awarded. In the individual category, 75-euro gift cards will be given to the woman and man who have accumulated the most steps, with a specific category for people with disabilities. For the team classification, the average number of steps per participant in each municipality will be considered.
In Azpeitia's case, the five most active walkers will be awarded, and another five prizes will be raffled among local groups. Additionally, the municipality that gathers the highest number of participants will receive an extra prize: five 30-euro gift cards to be raffled among group members, aiming to strengthen collective involvement and encourage more people to join the challenge.
To facilitate participation, Azpeitia's sports orientation service will offer assistance to anyone experiencing difficulties installing or using the application. This service is located at the municipal swimming pool and can also be contacted via phone at 688 84 51 19 or email at koz@azpeitia.eus. The registration period is now open, and the council encourages citizens to sign up and be part of this initiative that combines health, sport, and social participation.
