The Azkoitia Garbigune (waste collection point) has resumed normal operations since last week, following the completion of significant improvement works that lasted five months to optimize public service.

The renovation work on the facilities began last November, resulting in a 24% increase in the Garbigune's surface area, now reaching 1,499 m². Additionally, the covered space for collecting hazardous waste and electronic devices has been doubled, and security has been enhanced with new fencing, access control, and video surveillance systems.
Among the implemented improvements is the installation of a new weighbridge for more precise registration and control of incoming waste. The water management system has also been upgraded to safely separate and channel rainwater from wastewater.
The total cost of the works amounted to 500,000 euros, with 378,000 euros sourced from Next Generation funds granted by the Basque Government.
The renovated facility will serve the public from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the morning and from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the afternoon. On Saturdays, the hours will be from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

"We have encouraged citizens to use this facility to enable proper classification of bulky waste."
