The weather generally cooperated during the festivities, although the parade of buruhandiak (big-heads) and erraldoiak (giants) had to be canceled on August 15th due to heavy rain. Additionally, the rhythmic gymnastics team's performance had to be relocated from the church porch to the Elkargune.
Residents welcomed the festivities warmly. Over five days, more than 60 activities were offered, catering to all ages and audiences. Particularly memorable were the Salve performances, the parades of giants and big-heads, concerts, street performances, horse and mare competitions, short film contests, fireworks, tributes to individuals aged 90, and popular communal meals.
Sports also played a significant role, with pelota matches, the Euskal Herria Cup semifinals, traditional Basque sports (herri-kirolak), and athletics events drawing large crowds.
The City Council will conduct a more in-depth evaluation in September to analyze aspects of logistics and programming that could be improved. However, the initial assessment of the festivals is positive.
Furthermore, the City Council wishes to express its gratitude to the individuals, institutions, and associations, both internal and external to the council, who contributed to the successful execution of the events. "During the festivals, many people work to properly carry out all activities, ensure safety, or guarantee street cleaning. We must thank them all, as without their help, we could not celebrate these festivals," stated the Council.
There is now little time left until the next Andra Mari festivals.
