75 classic cars to participate in the Azpeitia Hiria rally

The event, held on Saturday, will cover a 230-kilometer route through Gipuzkoa roads.

On Saturday, July 18th, the 23rd edition of the Azpeitia Hiria rally will be held, featuring 75 classic cars on a 230-kilometer route.

The 23rd edition of the Azpeitia Hiria rally will take place on Saturday, July 18th. A total of 75 teams have registered and will participate in the event held on the roads of Gipuzkoa. The rally will be held in homage to Maykel del Cid. Car checks will be conducted from 09:00 in the square in front of the courthouse, and the 230-kilometer route will consist of vehicles over 25 years old.
The cars will depart from the square one by one at 11:00, passing through various towns: Bidania-Goiatz, Orendain, Mandubia, Gabiria, Mutiloa, Abaltzisketa, Aia, Zarautz, Meaga, and Azpeitia. During the route, there will be three stops: at 12:00, at the Salbatore restaurant in Beasain for a twenty-minute break; at 14:00, at the Aitxuri restaurant in Legazpi for lunch; and in the afternoon, at the Zarautz Promenade, near the Dama statue.
As announced by the organizers, the first participants will arrive at the square in front of the Azpeitia courthouse around 20:00, and the awards ceremony will take place at 21:00. Afterwards, they will have dinner at the Lau Bide restaurant.
Most participants will be from Gipuzkoa, but there will also be drivers from Álava, Bizkaia, and Asturias. Among the oldest cars participating in the rally are the 1970 Joxean Arana's Porsche 911T, Jagoba Aguirre's Renault Alpine A110, Josu Arana's 1972 Porsche 911, and Alberto Lasa's 1973 Peugeot 304S.
This rally takes place on roads open to traffic, which can lead to unforeseen circumstances. The organizers have asked spectators to facilitate the route as much as possible. The race times can be followed on the website anubesport.com.
