The 23rd edition of the Azpeitia Hiria rally is underway this morning. 75 classic cars are participating in the event and began their individual departures at 11:00 AM from the parking area in front of the courthouse in Azpeitia. Prior to the start, the vehicles were on display, drawing a large crowd eager to admire them. The Lagun Artea team has organized this rally in tribute to Maykel del Cid.
The participating cars will need to complete a 230-kilometer route through the roads of Gipuzkoa. The route will pass through several towns, including Azpeitia, Bidania-Goiatz, Orendain, Gabiria, and Mutiloa. Several stops are also planned, such as a 20-minute break at the Salbatore restaurant, a two-hour stop from 2:00 PM at the Aitxuri restaurant in Legazpi, and a one-hour stop in Zarautz at 6:00 PM.
Organizers anticipate the first car will arrive in Azpeitia around 8:00 PM. Once all cars have reached the finish line, an awards ceremony will be held in the same parking area in front of the courthouse.
