Arrigorriaga Kicks Off the Season with New Sports and Health Initiatives

The municipal sports center launches new courses, and construction for a new health center is set to begin in 2028.

Arrigorriaga unveils a series of new sports and health-focused activities for the upcoming autumn season.

The municipal sports center in Arrigorriaga launches new courses today, September 1st, including Body Cycle, adult gymnastics, zumba fit, pilates, and calorie-burning classes. Other activities like Aqua Gym, GAP, and Yoga will commence in October, with registration open until September 10th for non-members, who can sign up on the 21st if spaces remain.
The City Council emphasizes its commitment to healthy lifestyles and citizen well-being, inviting all residents to engage in sports and adopt an active, healthy way of life. Further information is available at the sports center or on the municipal website.
Additionally, the running group Arrigorriaga's Arrigokorrika has opened registration for its new season, with training sessions starting September 15th, offering options for one or two weekly workouts. Although initially formed for women, the group welcomes all runners.
Firefighters have extinguished a fire that broke out in some bushes in the Lonbo neighborhood of Arrigorriaga this afternoon. Two vehicles from the Basauri fire station responded promptly and put out the flames with the assistance of local police.
The eighth edition of the Arrigorriaga Ausartak mountain race is scheduled for January 16, 2026. The previous edition saw 824 participants, an increase of 100 from the year before.
Furthermore, Lamiaena, Arrigorriaga's House of Women, is organizing the fifth edition of the 'Fair of Creative Women' on October 3rd in Teodosia Ortega park. Registration will be open from September 1st to 13th.
The Department of Health and Osakidetza will allocate 6.3 million euros for the new health center in Arrigorriaga. Construction is slated to begin in the first quarter of 2028 on a 1,564 square meter plot at the southern end of Teodosia Ortega park. The new facility will include areas for family medicine, mother and child care, and physiotherapy.
