The renovation of the boiler at the Usabal sports center is in its final stage, aiming to improve the facility's climate control. This involves optimizing the heat and cold production system. Consequently, the City Council warns that users might experience some disruptions.
The works are expected to continue for the next two months, meaning those using the gym or indoor pool, among other areas, may encounter occasional noise, sudden temperature changes in certain spaces, restricted access to specific zones, or alterations to regular schedules. However, the Council assures that necessary measures will be taken to complete these changes as quickly as possible and minimize their impact on users, requesting their patience, understanding, and cooperation.
These efforts are crucial for enhancing Usabal's energy efficiency, ensuring greater thermal comfort, and making the service as sustainable and reliable as possible in the medium and long term. The sports center's boiler was in a precarious state and required renovation to maintain the services offered by the facility.
The City Council has allocated a budget of 3.3 million euros for a more sustainable system. Of this amount, almost one million euros will be subsidized by Next Generation funds, which are European Commission aids for financing reform projects, as announced early last year, specifically 867,000 euros. The government team's action has been urgent, considering that this operation was not included in the previous concession for the management of the Usabal complex. It is estimated that normalcy will return in June with the completion of the works.
