The Tolosa municipal library has this week opened registration for its 2026-2027 academic year reading groups. They have prepared a comprehensive offering for all age brackets, with sessions taking place from October to May, once a month, on the third floor of the Errota building. These activities will be free of charge, with facilitators selecting the readings and the library ensuring the availability of copies for participants.
For children aged 3-6 years, the Ipuin Txokoa sessions have been organized. Storyteller Miriam Mendoza will lead these sessions, which will be held on Mondays this year, from 18:00 to 19:00. Participation requires prior in-person registration at the library one week before each session. The first session is scheduled for October 5th, with registration opening on September 29th.
For young people, two reading clubs will be offered: one for 10-13 year olds and another for 14-18 year olds. Both groups will be facilitated by Nadin Hussein Hernandez on Fridays. The session for 10-13 year olds will be at 18:15, and for 14-18 year olds, at 16:30. The first meeting is on October 16th. The younger group will read 27 ipuin zopa hartzeko, and the older group, Esnearen kolorekoa. Registration will open on September 15th at 16:00 via the municipal website.
The adult reading club, for those over 16 years old, will be facilitated by Monica Leiva. Sessions will be held on Tuesdays at 18:00, in Spanish. The first reading, on October 20th, will be Margaret Atwood's Por último, el corazón. The readings for the rest of the academic year can be found on the library's website. Registration is already open through the municipal website.
Additionally, sign language interpretation services will be available for all sessions upon prior request. For further information, please call 943 69 74 62 or email liburutegia@tolosa.eus.
Furthermore, the Jabetze Eskola has organized two groups: 'Feminist Reading of Basque Women Writers', led by bertsolari Oihana Iguaran, on Thursdays from 18:00 to 20:00 in room 3 of the Andragora Tolosaldeko Emakumeen Etxea. The first session is on October 15th, discussing Katixa Agirre's Barne zerbitzuak. The second group, 'Literature by Women from Around the World', will be facilitated by Mertxe Tranche Iparragirre on Wednesdays, from 18:00 to 20:00, in rooms 5 and 6 of Andragora.
The Galtzaundi Tolosaldeko Euskaltzaleen Elkartea also organizes literary discussions in Basque for adults, facilitated by Yurre Ugarte. The first meeting will take place on September 30th at the association's premises in Plaza Berria, focusing on Danele Sarriugarte's Beste zerbait.
