Curated by Daniel Asua and Hibai Agorria, this exhibition evokes the town's past through images taken over seventy years ago. The photographs were discovered a few years ago at a street market in Madrid and capture landscapes, travels, and scenes of daily life from 1954 to 1956.
Among the images, a portrait of a young woman whose face remained anonymous for decades is particularly notable. Based on these photographs, a search began to reconstruct their history: identifying the locations depicted and, where possible, tracing the individuals featured.
The archive has now returned to Elorrio, connected to a local family. The exhibition offers a chance to return these images to their place of origin and, through them, to recover a small piece of the everyday memory of those who lived during that era.
