A new event, the Seafood Market, will be added to the special markets organized by the Tolosa City Council throughout the year. This event will take place on Saturday in Triángulo Square, from 09:00 to 14:00. The objective is to promote, exhibit, and market products related to the sea, gastronomy, and maritime culture, ensuring the support of the artisanal preserve industry.
In response to the call made by the council, eight stalls will be present at the market. Participants include companies from the fishing and seafood sector, producers and marketers of marine products, as well as artisans and organizations linked to the maritime area. Among the stalls will be those from Royo Antxoak and Urdaibai conservas SL (from Bermeo), Gureik SL (from Bilbao), Bodegas J. Ramirez (from San Vicente de la Sonsierra), Itxasloo Portu (from Portugalete), Kosta itsas egurrak (from Oiartzun), Estibaliz Yuguero (from Galdakao), and Urkizahar (from Beizama).
Aitor Agirresarobe, the councilor for commerce, tourism, and markets, explained that the idea had been considered for years and has now finally been organized. Furthermore, they decided to hold it concurrently with the Special White Wine Market, as the two events complement each other well. The white wine market, organized in recent years by the gastronomic society Gure Txokoa, has been prepared collaboratively by the council and the society itself.
The White Wine Market will run from 11:30 to 14:00, offering the chance to taste 19 white wines from 16 wineries for six euros. Additionally, the bars Fronton, Xare, and 19-90, along with the society Gure Txokoa, will set up stalls selling pintxos for 1.5 euros.
The usual markets will take place in Zerkausia and Berdura Square, but there will be no stalls in Euskal Herria Square due to preparations for the San Juan festivities. The stalls normally located there will be moved to San Francisco promenade.
