The Tolosa City Council has presented the program for the San Joan 2026 festivities, which will run from June 13th to 27th. The celebrations will kick off with various sporting events, including the Urtzi Gurrutxaga Memorial football tournament at the Berazubi stadium, the Sanjoanetako Xake Txapelketa chess championship in Trianguloa square, and the XXVI Ugaitz 3x3 San Juan Basketball Championship on San Frantzisko promenade.
Music will also be a highlight, with a concert by the Tolosa Municipal Band in Euskal Herria square, followed by performances from Denbora Band, Joli Paskualena, and Iker Huitzi. On Sunday, June 14th, the T3T and T2T mountain marathons organized by the Oargi Mendi club will take place, and in Zumardiaundi park, there will be children's activities, such as sand sculptures and sustainable textile workshops.
On Friday, June 19th, traditional events will commence. A special mass will be held at San Frantzisko church, and the VII Day of the Elderly will begin at the Harizpe association. In the afternoon, the Parade of Giants and Big-heads will depart from the Gernikako Arbola Gardens, and the Chupinazo (opening rocket) will be launched from the Old Square, followed by the Iraunkorrak charanga parading through the streets. There will also be a rhythmic gymnastics performance and concerts by artists such as Nhil and Añube.
On Saturday, June 20th, the Day of the Quadrillas (groups of friends) will be celebrated. Throughout the day, there will be a cycling race, a children's bull run, a raft descent, and the parade of giants and big-heads. At midday, the cuadrillas' chupinazo and kalejira (street parade) will take place, followed by a communal meal and a romeria (folk festival) with the group Iratzar. The evening will conclude with concerts and charangas.
The weekend continues on Sunday, June 21st, with a children's play park, a commemorative concert, and a bertsolari (improvised verse singing) session featuring Maialen Lujanbio, Alaia Martin, Jexux Mari Irazu, and Joanes Illarregi. In the afternoon, there will be a rural sports exhibition and a concert.
On Monday, June 22nd, the solstice concert by the Et Incarnatus Orchestra will be held. On Tuesday, June 23rd, the eve of San Joan will be celebrated with small fireworks, concerts, and a performance by Puro Relajo.
Finally, on June 24th, San Joan's Day, numerous events are scheduled: dianas (morning music), the San Joan Alarde (military parade), high mass, and procession. At midday, a concert by txistularis and municipal bands will be held in Berdura Plaza. In the afternoon, the traditional route and events will take place, and at night, fireworks and concerts by Neomak and Muxutruk.
The festivities will conclude on Saturday, June 27th, with the San Joan Cider Championship and tasting organized by the Batasuna association.
