The Tolosa City Council has opened the bidding process for the execution of a project to install electric vehicle charging points in public car parks. The allocated budget for this initiative is approximately 258,159.73 euros (including VAT), with the work expected to last around two months and be completed before December 18th of this year.
These new charging points will be located in eight strategic areas within the municipality: the outpatient clinic's car park in San Esteban, the public car park at El Ferial, Avenida de Álava near the underpass, Plaza Estación, next to the Eroski hypermarket, in Iurre auzoa, in Bidebieta, and in Santa Lucía, opposite the Samaniego school. At least two parking spaces will be reserved for electric vehicle charging at each of these locations.
This project, a key priority for the current EH Bildu administration, has progressed following the initial design drafted by Girder Ingenieros. Although nine locations were initially considered, the one at the Usabal sports center car park was ultimately discarded. Last year, 350,000 euros were allocated to this project, which has already received a grant of 149,348.61 euros from the state's Moves III program for efficient and sustainable mobility incentives.
Currently, Tolosa has three charging points located at service stations. With this new initiative, the council aims to significantly expand the current offering, adding sixteen new charging points for electric vehicles. The specific nature of Tolosa's electricity grid, divided between Tolargi and Iberdrola, has necessitated that bidding companies conduct on-site visits with municipal technicians to understand the work areas.
“"Currently, three electric charging points are located at service stations... In contrast, Ibarra has a point on Otarreaga street promoted by the Provincial Council's Sustainability Department."
