The Civil Guard has arrested two individuals, residents of towns in Álava, as alleged perpetrators of a drug trafficking offense, after seizing narcotics valued at 101,400 euros at a checkpoint in El Villar de Arnedo.

The arrest took place during a preventive control on the N-232 road, in the municipality of El Villar de Arnedo. The two occupants of the vehicle displayed clear signs of nervousness during the identification process, providing inconsistent answers and false information regarding their identity, destination, and place of residence.
These contradictions and their evasive attitude raised the agents' suspicions. Although an initial thorough inspection of the cabin and trunk did not reveal any suspicious substances, the intervention of the Civil Guard's Canine Service was requested, given the occupants' behavior and the fact that one of them had a police record for possession of narcotics.
The dog 'Coca', an 8-year-old English Springer Spaniel specialized in drug detection, clearly marked the vehicle's rear fender. There, agents located a hidden compartment camouflaged next to the spare wheel, which served as a 'stash spot'.
Inside this hidden compartment, two kilograms of speed, 282 doses of cocaine, and 1,200 grams of hashish were found. The seized speed, once adulterated, would have allowed for the production of 8,212 doses, valued at approximately 92,400 euros on the illicit market. The cocaine was valued at 6,768 euros, and the hashish at 2,260 euros, totaling 101,400 euros.
This discovery led to the arrest of both men and their transfer to the Civil Guard facilities in Calahorra.
