The Ertzaintza arrested a 45-year-old man this Thursday in Sopela for driving a tourist train, which was carrying 35 minors and two teachers, while under the influence of narcotics.

The incident occurred shortly before ten in the morning when the Ertzaintza was informed that the driver appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance. Officers quickly arrived at the scene and, observing the man's agitated demeanor, proceeded to administer a drug test.
The test result was positive. Furthermore, a superficial search of the arrested individual revealed a small bag containing white powder and nine pills, presumed to be narcotics. Consequently, the man was arrested for an alleged crime against road safety and was also proposed for an administrative sanction for violating the Citizen Security Protection Law due to drug possession.
The arrested man was subsequently taken to the Ertzain-etxea in Getxo for the necessary proceedings, after which he will be brought before judicial authorities. The tourist train remained immobilized at the scene, and the minors were safely transported by bus to their school, with no further incidents reported.
