Security Department Recognizes 38 Professionals and Entities in Private Security in Euskadi

Honorary mentions were awarded to professionals, companies, and entities for their contribution to citizen security.

The Department of Security of the Basque Government has honored 38 professionals, companies, and entities in the private security sector in Euskadi for their outstanding work.

The Department of Security of the Basque Government held today the award ceremony for the 2026 Honorary Mentions in the Private Security field in Euskadi. This institutional event recognizes the performance, trajectory, and collaboration of professionals, companies, and entities that have contributed to improving security in the region.
The event, held at the Department's headquarters in Erandio, was presided over by the Minister of Security, Bingen Zupiria, accompanied by the Vice-Minister of Security, Ricardo Ituarte, the Director of Security Coordination, Asier Erkoreka, and the Director of the Ertzaintza, Victoria Landa. Zupiria thanked the honorees for their 'professionalism, involvement, and effort', emphasizing that private security 'is part of Euskadi's security system'.
The minister highlighted the relevant role of sector professionals in protecting people, property, and infrastructure, as well as in transport hubs, events, sensitive facilities, and public and private spaces. He stressed that public-private collaboration is 'essential' for improving security and ensuring coexistence.
In total, 38 recognitions were presented: 6 honorary decorations, 29 honorary distinctions, and 3 honorary plaques. The decorations were awarded to six security guards from Prosegur for their collaboration with the Ertzaintza in an investigation at the Ballonti shopping center. The honorary distinctions recognize 29 professionals for actions such as assisting victims in traffic accidents, protecting at-risk individuals, and collaborating in police investigations.
Among the distinguished professionals are David López Camarena and Ana María García Monroy from Securitas Seguridad, Juan José Jiménez Bautista and Marta Pérez Astier from ALSE Seguridad, and several members of Prosegur including Manuel López Paz, Oscar Gutiérrez García, Christian Velasco Carballo, Cristian Casado Tabares, and Pedro Enrique García Canto de la Torre. Also recognized were Beñat Gorospe Iparraguirre, Security Director at Euskotren, and Valentín Yebra Fernández, Corporate Security Director at Bankinter, for their collaboration with the Ertzaintza.
Regarding the honorary plaques, they were awarded to María Valcarce Rodríguez, director of SICUR, the company Industrias de Seguridad BAUS SA, and Commissioner Francisco Llaneza Prieto, for their promotion of the sector and their cooperation with the Ertzaintza and Basque institutions.
