The municipality of Loiu has garnered a positive overall assessment from its residents, achieving an average score of 8.45 out of 10 as a place to live. A survey conducted by Gizaker among nearly 300 residents indicates that 80.5% of the population considers the Town Council's management to be excellent or good.
Residents acknowledge the municipality's positive evolution in recent years, consistently highlighting the sense of security as a well-established aspect. However, public transport remains the primary citizen concern, cited by 30% of participants. The Council emphasizes recent advancements in coordination with the Diputación Foral de Bizkaia for new connections to Txorierri, frequency improvements, direct airport links, and summer services to the coast. Mayor Josu Andoni Begoña (PNV) stated that "the Council holds regular meetings with the provincial institution to strengthen the mobility network".
Housing ranks second as a major concern, a challenge shared with other Basque municipalities. This is partly due to the absence of public housing developments for the past quarter-century because of airport-related constraints. Nevertheless, the mayor indicated that "this year the first execution unit of the Aritztondo-Txiline residential sector will be put out to tender".
In terms of services, cleanliness, waste collection, and the maintenance of parks and public spaces receive high ratings, with over 95% acceptance and scores consistently above 8, aligning with the generally favorable assessment of the local executive's management. Both completed and ongoing projects also enjoy a positive reception from citizens, according to the survey. Notable actions include sports facilities, neighborhood improvements, initiatives for the elderly, children's leisure services, and extended hours at the local health center.
