Santurtzi's central park became the epicenter of activity for Ezkerraldea's dance groups at noon, celebrating the 40th edition of the San Jorge txiki alarde. The event in the maritime town began at 11:30 AM in Gernika park, from where the preliminary kalejira (parade) departed, involving the 14 participating groups. Shortly before midday, the alarde commenced in the central park, where over 400 dantzaris (dancers) performed in this event, which is now a fixed date in the town's cultural calendar.

"It is a great honor for our municipality to host this event. Our deepest gratitude to all participating groups and, especially, to the five from Santurtzi. Thanks to them, 40 editions of this txiki alarde have been completed."

the mayor of Santurtzi
This year's edition has been very special for this alarde, which is a benchmark in the world of dance in Bizkaia. The mayor of Santurtzi expressed gratitude to all participating groups, especially the five from the town, for making the event's 40th anniversary possible. Subsequently, the mayor presented a gift to each of the 14 groups that took part in the activity.
On this occasion, the organization of the event, which rotates among the five local dance groups, fell to Mendi Alde Dantza Taldea from Kabiezes. A representative from the group stated that the fact that this txiki alarde is celebrating 40 years is a great achievement, and that day was very special for them. Although two groups could not attend, their gratitude and recognition were immense, as they have regularly participated in the alarde. Hundreds of people gathered in Santurtzi's central park to enjoy this alarde, which lasted for about an hour.
The 40th anniversary of the San Jorge txiki alarde was not the only round anniversary celebrated this midday in Santurtzi. The town's Comparsa de Gigantes (Giants' Troupe) is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Over these three decades, the Santurtzi giants' troupe has become an important asset to the town's cultural and festive movement. A member of the troupe indicated that they started this project 30 years ago because there was no giants' troupe in Santurtzi, and for some years there were no giants in their festivities. This year they are also celebrating a round anniversary, but they do not plan to hold large activities to commemorate it.
