In the Gipuzkoan town of Zarautz, the 45th edition of the Lizardi Literary Prize has commenced, focusing this year on children's literature. This competition, as every year, aims to promote literature for children and young people, alternating between two disciplines. This year's call is for works aimed at readers aged between 7 and 12, as reported by sources from the Zarautz City Council.
Those interested in participating must submit their works before July 10, either by regular or electronic mail, fulfilling the conditions specified in the rules. Works must be originally written in Euskera, be original, unpublished, and not have been awarded in other competitions. Each participant may submit more than one work, and the winner will receive a prize of 5,500 euros.
In the previous edition, the jury decided not to award a prize, considering that the submitted works did not possess the necessary quality to maintain the usual standard of the competition. For this reason, the traditional award ceremony will not be held this year.
