In Santurtzi's Central Park, literature enthusiasts have an important date. The 42nd edition of the local Book Fair has commenced, highlighted by the city council as one of the oldest in Bizkaia. Until May 17, more than a dozen stalls will offer a wide variety of books for all ages and tastes.
The fair offers 10% discounts on new releases, and classic second-hand copies are available from just one euro. According to event organizers, «there is everything from renowned authors to new talents». The fair's hours are from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

Stalls feature books across genres such as fantasy, crime fiction, mystery, science fiction, poetry, gastronomy, and self-help, available in both Spanish and Basque. To encourage purchases, the network of municipal libraries in Santurtzi is organizing a raffle for four book bundles, valued at 60 euros each (two for adults and two for children), among members who visit the fair and buy a product.
This year, local writers will once again have their own stand. The local writers' association stated that «we are eighteen in the association, we have significant production, and we bring many new releases across all genres». Among those who purchase books by local authors, copies of the novel created last year by the association, commemorating the 950th anniversary of the municipality's first mention in writing, will be raffled.
