The primary intervention involved replacing the old gas boiler with a new biomass boiler. Utilizing biomass, such as pellets, reduces reliance on fossil fuels and does not add new CO2 to the atmosphere, as it releases the same amount of carbon naturally absorbed by plants during their growth.
Additionally, the domestic hot water production system has been enhanced, more efficient pumping equipment has been installed, and control and monitoring systems to optimize energy consumption have been implemented. These measures significantly reduce the building's carbon dioxide emissions.
The installation of this infrastructure is part of an action plan to meet energy sustainability criteria across Osakidetza's centers.
With an investment of approximately 500,000 euros, this project aims to reduce energy consumption and increase renewable production within Osakidetza, moving towards a more sustainable model. The goal is to partially supply the centers' electricity demand and lower CO2 emissions associated with electricity generation and distribution.
