The LAKET Women's Empowerment School in Leioa, supported by the City Council, is launching its eighth edition with a new program running from October to May.

The Women's Empowerment School of Leioa, known as LAKET, has commenced its eighth edition for the 2026-2027 academic year. This initiative by the Leioa City Council will once again provide a space for meeting, learning, and reflection centered on women's empowerment and equality.
This year's program is structured around three main areas: the Women's Empowerment School, the Space for Young Girls, and the Equality School for Young People, offering proposals tailored to different ages and interests.
The program for women will address topics such as well-being, relationships, participation, the body, and self-care, in addition to providing practical tools and knowledge. Among the new offerings this year are workshops on basic plumbing, feminist self-defense, motherhood and feminism, photography, dance, and emotional well-being, alongside sessions to discuss menopause, widowhood, desire, and sexuality from a feminist perspective.
Registration will be open from September 21 to October 14. Applications can be submitted in person at the Citizen Attention Services of the Leioa City Council and Gaztelubide, or online through the municipal electronic headquarters and website. The courses are free, accessibility is guaranteed, and childcare services are available upon request.
Places are limited and will be allocated by lottery among registered women, with preference given to those registered in Leioa. The list of admitted participants will be published on October 22 at Kultur Leioa, the LAKET Empowerment School, the Citizen Attention Services, and the municipal website.
Unless otherwise indicated, activities will take place at the LAKET School premises, located in the Mendibile Schools building (Mendibil street 13, 1st floor).
