The utilization of municipal sports services in Getxo has maintained an upward trajectory for the fourth consecutive year, with the 2025 fiscal year closing with a total of 26,085 subscribers. This figure represents an increase of 1,077 users compared to the previous year, as highlighted by municipal sources.
The annual report indicates that 16,608 individuals participated in various sports programs and activities during 2025. Of these, 11,706 did so through courses organized by Getxo Kirolak, 2,074 took part in school sports initiatives, and 3,890 attended nearly 300 sports events held throughout the year in the municipality.
Regarding facility usage, 24,673 annual reservations were recorded, also an increase of 1,077 from 2024. The most in-demand infrastructures continue to be the paddle tennis courts, with 13,158 hours of use, followed by tennis courts (9,028 hours), frontons (2,427 hours), and multi-sport courts (1,582 hours). Additionally, Getxo Kirolak continued its support for the local sports community by allocating 1,368 weekly hours to clubs and associations for regular training and activities.

A municipal sports official stated that one of the main challenges remains the improvement and renovation of municipal sports center facilities, while ensuring that activities can continue to be offered. In the case of Fadura, where the Thinking Fadura process is underway, the TikiToki Zentroa has been launched, and renovations will continue with the upcoming comprehensive refurbishment of the grandstand building, which serves the athletics, rugby, and velodrome areas.
Economically, Getxo Kirolak managed a budget exceeding 13.8 million euros, achieving a self-financing level of 35.72%. The City Council also wished to acknowledge the work of the organization's staff, attributing to them a fundamental role in improving results and consolidating the service.
