Elderly Woman Attacked in Barakaldo During Handbag Snatching

Local police in Barakaldo arrested a man in the Urban-Galindo neighborhood on April 24, following reports of a violent handbag snatching from an elderly woman.

Barakaldo Local Police officers have arrested a man in the Urban-Galindo neighborhood after being alerted to a robbery in Zamalanda park. Reportedly, around 10:00 AM, an individual assaulted an elderly woman who was walking in the area, snatching her handbag.
According to the Department of Citizen Security, the assailant fled the scene but was caught on the main avenue of the neighborhood, near a building under construction. Several residents stated that the alleged thief was subdued by construction workers until municipal police arrived and took him into custody.
The 84-year-old woman sustained several injuries as a result of the attack. She suffered a dislocated shoulder, a cut on her hand requiring stitches, and a swollen eye.
