The municipalities of Santurtzi and Portugalete will commemorate Book Day on April 23rd with a series of activities aimed at fostering reading, including a charity book market and free book distributions.

The library network in Santurtzi has organized its traditional charity book market for Book Day, where second-hand copies will be available at very affordable prices, ranging from one to two euros. This initiative will take place in Juan José Mendizábal square from Thursday to Sunday, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, offering a wide variety of genres and themes for all ages.
The market also has a charitable component, as the proceeds will be donated to the local writers' association of Santurtzi. Additionally, the program will be complemented with various activities to promote reading, such as bookmark workshops, children's games, a scavenger hunt, literary bingo, and storytelling sessions.
Meanwhile, Portugalete's library will be distributing free books to citizens. From 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, adult books will be given away, one per person while supplies last. From 4:00 PM onwards, it will be the turn for children's books. Furthermore, a theatrical reading by the Virginia Senosiain company is scheduled from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and in the afternoon, there will be story-themed 'escape room' sessions, lasting thirty minutes, aimed at children aged 8 to 12.
