The Bilbao City Council, together with the Local Immigration Council, held the IV Associative Meeting last Saturday, October 24th, at Bilborock, a space for reflection on the challenges and opportunities for associations.

The event was designed and developed by the associations of the Local Immigration Council itself, in collaboration with the City Council through the Associative Strengthening Working Group. The meeting brought together over fifty people, including association members and institutional and associative representatives from territories such as Bizkaia, Barcelona, and Zaragoza.
The initiative promoted the exchange of experiences and good practices, as well as collective reflection on the challenges and opportunities for the associative fabric in diverse contexts. The first part of the meeting focused on presenting experiences from sectoral participation councils in other territories, such as Barcelona and Zaragoza. The second part addressed participation models in Bizkaia, including the Permanent Dialogue and Participation Table in the Field of Diversity, promoted by the Directorate of Social Cohesion of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia.
The third part of the day took place through participatory working groups, where four specific topics were discussed: generational succession and youth participation; real, active, and effective participation; coordination, collaboration, and exchange between associations; and the communication and visibility of associations. The groups were facilitated by representatives from the associations.
At the end of the event, the facilitators shared the main reflections, learnings, and proposals. The conclusions will be compiled in the 2026 Associative Meeting Report, which will be subsequently shared with the attending associations and invited participation spaces.
Among the attendees were representatives from Barcelona's Consell D'Immigració, the General Council of the House of Cultures and Solidarity of the Zaragoza City Council, and the Permanent Dialogue and Participation Table in the Field of Diversity of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia. Additionally, 29 associations from Bilbao's Local Immigration Council participated, including Asociación Colombia Euskadi, Asociación PIU, and Asociación Ruso-Parlantes de Euskadi Rodina.
