The Basauri City Council has announced the San Fausto Festivals 2026, which will take place from October 10th to 18th. The extensive program features a wide array of events, concerts, gastronomic sessions, and traditional games, each contributing its unique character to the festive days.
The official opening will be on Saturday, October 10th, starting at 6:00 PM with the gathering of cuadrillas at the town hall, followed by the reception and presentation of the child mayors and cuadrillas, a tribute to the Basauritar Dantza Taldea group, and the reading of the proclamation. Throughout the day, there will be a descent, a disco party for young people, street parades, and concerts, including performances by Muxutruk Erromeria and the Grupo Track orchestra.
On Sunday, October 11th, "Local Artist Day" will be celebrated, featuring a bagpipe parade, championships for Leonese and Three-Board bowling, a Scalextric circuit, Txiki-gazte Parkea, dance performances, professional pelota matches, and various concerts and workshops. In the afternoon, there will be a motorcycle gathering and exhibitions, as well as comedy and dance shows.
On Monday, October 12th, "Indaba Day," there will be a Calva championship, a children's cuadrilla competition with traditional games, solidarity markets, a car drift exhibition, herri kirolak (popular sports), an artisan beer fair, and various solidarity gastronomic events, such as the popular "Indaba-jan" and "Hirugihar-jan."
On Tuesday, October 13th, San Fausto Day itself will be celebrated, with a procession and floral offering, a mass in honor of the cuadrillas, a sokadantza (rope dance), and various street parades and musical performances. At midday, there will be a cuadrillas lunch, and in the afternoon, the irrintzi (shout) competition, workshops, and dance and music performances will continue.
On Wednesday, October 14th, it will be "Children's Day," featuring a children's plenary session, a parade of giants and big-heads, a children's park and workshops, a magic show, a handball tournament in the street, and various solidarity tastings, including cider, zurra txiki, and a tasting of label-certified veal.
On Thursday, October 15th, "Senior Citizens' Day" will be celebrated, with an Igel-toka (frog toss) championship, triki-poteo (accordion street music), a dultzainero parade, and a large lunch and party for seniors. In the afternoon, there will be workshops, a tortilla competition, and various gastronomic events, followed by a concert and the Zurra-Pong championship.
On Friday, October 16th, various activities will take place, including a solidarity txanpi (a type of pastry), karparamartxoa for cuadrillas, a big-heads competition, various gastronomic and sports championships, a batukada workshop, and a fireworks display.
On Saturday, October 17th, there will be an exhibition of farm products, herri kirolak, a train circuit for families, a paella championship, a foam party, simultaneous chess games, a skate competition, and various concerts and street parades throughout the day.
On Sunday, October 18th, there will be an artisan fair, a children's and youth park, an adapted train, a stewed potato competition, a bowling championship, a cod tasting, and musical performances. To conclude the festivities, there will be a closing spectacle and a moving farewell to the beloved Eskarabilera.
