Aitor Larrazabal, the new sporting director for Sestao River, has discussed his club's current situation, while also admitting to a "slight uncertainty" as an Athletic Club member and fan regarding the arrival of a new coach.

Aitor Larrazabal, the new sporting director for Sestao River, discussed his club's current situation on the program ['Deportes Cope en Bilbao']. However, as a member and fan of Athletic Club, he also confessed to a "slight uncertainty" about the arrival of a new coach to the club's bench. "There's always the fact that a new coach arrives, who isn't well-known, [...] how they will approach joining a club with a philosophy different from all other teams in the world," he explained.
Larrazabal believes that, given the impossibility of major squad overhauls, the challenge is clear. "We already know what it is and what we have, and with these resources, we have to try to, well, make sparks fly," he stated, expressing his interest in seeing "how this man works and what he is capable of inspiring the fans with."
Regarding his role at Sestao River, Larrazabal confirmed that the objective is promotion, despite adjustments. "We know that compared to last year, we will have a smaller budget, [...] but it will be ambitious," he affirmed. The team will fight for the "big prize," which is promotion to Primera Federación.
The first step of the project has been the hiring of the new coach, Héctor Urquía. A 34-year-old coach whose ambition and track record Larrazabal highlights. After a historic promotion with Anguiano and leading Tudelano to the playoffs, Urquía accepted the offer without hesitation. "He told me he was, well, very eager to take that step," revealed the sporting director.
One of the qualities Larrazabal values most in the new manager is his "adaptability." He considers it one of the "most important characteristics" for a category like Segunda RFEF, where one must adapt to "different situations."
The sporting director described the league as "tremendous" and very complicated. He highlighted the difficulty posed by "teams that move up from the third division and make a significant investment" and those that "drop from the first red division and [...] invest a lot of money."
