Actor Daniel Guzmán, through his new musical venture Presbicia, will present a unique concert at Bilbao's Sala Azkena this Friday, April 17, paying homage to the legendary band La Polla Records.

The Sala Azkena in Bilbao is set to host a distinctive concert this Friday, April 17, in the Vizcayan capital. This event marks one of the first live performances by Presbicia, the new project spearheaded by actor Daniel Guzmán, conceived as a tribute to the iconic punk band La Polla Records.

"This project has no pretensions whatsoever, it's simply about enjoying ourselves. I grew up with the songs of La Polla Records, Eskorbuto, everything. And that, in a way, generated a critical thinking in me that marked my adolescence. I was in a period where I liked the punk movement."

For their performance at Sala Azkena, Presbicia will be joined by Algazara, a project initiated by Javi Ivànyez, the lead singer of the group Mugroman. The event is scheduled to commence at 9:00 PM and conclude at 11:45 PM. Guzmán emphasizes that during their shows, there is “no barrier” between the audience and the band, and he himself “jumps into the crowd” from the song “Salve”.
The Presbicia project offers a heartfelt tribute to Evaristo Páramos, one of the musicians who has most influenced Guzmán's life, revisiting songs that “remain more present and alive than ever.” Guzmán confesses that he “was born with it.” The idea originated one day with his cousin Miguel, a drummer, as they recalled growing up with La Polla Records and the punk movement, feeling it was “our identity mark.” They wondered, “Why don't we just meet in the rehearsal room to express ourselves and have a good time?”
Despite Daniel Guzmán describing himself as “horrible and arrhythmic,” he began to connect with “the energy inherent in musical composition” and found immense enjoyment with his cousin. Two of his cousin's friends then joined them, and that's how they “started.” They began performing in an alternative venue, and “word started to spread; we truly enjoyed it, and it has grown exponentially and organically. We have no pretensions; if this ends tomorrow, it ends.” Although not professionally linked to music, he has been connected to it his entire life. “It's about going out for people to enjoy. We've done some concerts, and they've been impressive,” he adds.
