This afternoon, Azpeitia's Elikagune will host the final of the Gipuzkoa School Bertsolaritza Championship. The event is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM with a dinner, followed by the bertso session. Eight bertsolaris will compete for the txapela, including a young bertsolari from Beasain.
To reach the final, four qualifying rounds were held. The young bertsolari won the Legazpi round on March 27, securing her place in the final. The other qualifying rounds took place in Altzo, Oñati, and Usurbil.
“"Having participated in the Herriarteko with established figures, I felt calm in Legazpi."
The bertsolari explained that she started performing bertsos at 9-10 years old but stopped after a couple of years. She resumed two years ago and has participated for the first time in the Gipuzkoa Herriarteko Championship with the Oriako Tramanak group. She noted that this experience helped her for the school championship, as she felt more relaxed during the Legazpi qualifying round.
“"Having a touch of nervousness is good, because it helps you stay focused during the bertso session."
Ahead of the final, the bertsolari admitted to feeling some nervousness, but believes it helps her stay concentrated. She held onto hope of winning the Legazpi qualifier and approaches today's final with enthusiasm, despite significant apprehension. She emphasized that it is a great opportunity and hopes to enjoy the performance.
