The Finisher Kern-Pharma rider, aged 21, achieved his first victory in the U23 category, employing a strategy of keeping close to the favorites competing for the Torneo Euskalduna's regularity title.
In the final stretch of the 130-kilometer route, the consecutive ascents of Lazkaomendi and Urkillaga created a decisive selection. Errasti entered the group of six riders who contended for the win. He held on until the final meters and outpaced all rivals with a powerful sprint launched from the last corner.
With a time of 03:01:07, he was the first to cross the finish line, sharing the podium with Conejero and Del Cid. The Ataun race features a demanding profile with five categorized climbs, three of the third category in the first half and two of the second category in the final 25 kilometers.
Errasti strategically maintained his position within the group to seize the opportunity and secure his first U23 victory. This triumph marks the seventh win of the season for Finisher Kern-Pharma, who also claimed the team classification in Ataun.
They will dance the 'San Juan zortzikoa' and the 'soka dantza' around the pole.
Meanwhile, Ataun is preparing for its San Juan festivities. On Tuesday at 20:00, the celebrations will commence with the traditional raising of the poplar pole, followed by a performance by the Oinarin dance group. As darkness falls, the bonfire will be lit.
