Ordizia hosted the regional elimination round of a culinary contest for retired individuals, featuring red wine beef cheeks, with eight pairs competing.

The Association of Pensioners and Retirees of Gipuzkoa held its inter-society gastronomic competition, this year focusing on beef cheeks in red wine. On Tuesday, Ordizia served as the venue for the regional elimination round, with participants from Beasain, Idiazabal, Ormaiztegi, Segura, Zaldibia, Lazkao, Olaberria, and Ordizia itself.
The eight teams, each consisting of two people, prepared their red wine beef cheek dishes in the small fronton throughout the afternoon. A friendly atmosphere prevailed among all participants and spectators.

The first prize was awarded to Periko Zeberio and Juan Martin Luloaga from the Beti Gazte association in Zaldibia. The second place went to Luis Pinto and Antonio Ruiz from the Zuhaizti association in Ordizia.

The two winning pairs have qualified for the provincial final, which will take place in Arrasate in September, where they will once again prepare the same dish.
