The Ormaiztegi Town Council has implemented a new lighting system on a section of its bidegorri, installing 14 solar streetlights on the stretch from the Irai-Erreka roundabout to the urban core, aiming to improve safety and accessibility.

The Ormaiztegi Town Council has installed new lighting along a section of the bidegorri under its jurisdiction. Specifically, the new streetlights have been placed on the approximately 400-meter stretch connecting the Irai-Errota roundabout to the town center. A total of 14 solar streetlights were installed to illuminate this area, which previously lacked lighting.
As part of this project, the bidegorri section has also been repainted, and informational signs have been placed at the beginning of the stretch in both directions. The total budget for the work amounted to 41,590 euros, with the goal of enhancing citizen safety and comfort.
Furthermore, the council and the Department of Sustainability of the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council reached an agreement for the installation of solar streetlights on the 345-meter section between the Ormaiztegi roundabout and the border with Beasain. This department committed to drafting the executive project, which is now complete, in 2025 and to carrying out the works around the summer of 2026.
Once these works are completed, the entire bidegorri between Ormaiztegi and Beasain will be fully illuminated, providing a safer and more pleasant route for users.
