The Urretxu City Council has awarded the construction of the AldiriBi sports center in the plenary session held this afternoon to the company Altuna y Uria.

The City Council of Urretxu decided in the plenary session held this afternoon to award the construction of the AldiriBi sports center. Six companies submitted bids, and the one that obtained the most points was Altuna y Uria. The project will have a budget of 6.1 million euros, and the sports center is expected to be ready by the end of 2028.
In this assembly, the PNV and PSE-EE voted in favor of the project, while EH Bildu opted for abstention. According to Julen Azpeiti of EH Bildu, for the same reason they abstained on the project, they have decided to abstain on the adjudication as well, for coherence.
The sports center will be built on a plot of land measuring 5,000 square meters, in the location currently occupied by the courtyard of the Urretxu-Zumarraga ikastola (school). The new building will have four floors and a covered court. Additionally, the access to the swimming pool will be modified, entering from the new building. The facilities will also include four multipurpose rooms, changing rooms for the court and pool, a storage area, and an elevator. A park will also be created in the surrounding area.
The building and the court will cover an area of 1,800 square meters, and the park will occupy 3,700 square meters. The works are expected to last approximately two years.
