The town will officially launch a new cultural initiative. Two performances will take place, at 5:00 PM and 7:30 PM, featuring the play What Happened in Legorreta on May 30, 1926?, which uses the Legorreta of a century ago as its starting point and brings the era's atmosphere to the stage. The town theater will be filled via invitations.
Fernandez explained that the project's creation began with citizen initiative: «During a town festival, a resident confessed to me their desire to do theater, and their courage was enough to attract more people to the movement». The project originated from that proposal. Initially, Fernandez had not planned to start such an initiative, but he decided to make an open call to gauge genuine interest in the town.
The call was answered by «more people than expected», leading to the establishment of a twelve-person theater workshop. As young people, adults, and children joined, two groups were formed: one for children and teenagers, and another for adults. Saturday's performance has been prepared by the adults; Fernandez mentioned that they are also preparing the work of the younger members, but it will be presented «later».
Since then, they have been meeting on Thursday afternoons for rehearsals, although as the premiere approached, more hours had to be dedicated to preparation. According to Fernandez, the process itself has been one of the most enriching aspects of the project: «Theater will bring together people from different profiles in the town, and the evolution has been incredible; for many, it's their first theater experience, and they have overcome their initial shyness and nervousness week by week».
The work to be staged on Saturday has also emerged from «collective creation». The play's starting point lies in improvisation exercises conducted at the beginning of the course; the story they will bring to the stage has been developed from the ideas generated in those exercises. They are set in Legorreta in 1926, during the era known as Los locos 20, with a group of women at the heart of the story.
The play recounts how several women from Legorreta and surrounding areas came together with the aim of engaging in activities beyond the usual domestic chores of the time. They created a sort of association called «Ontza Kluba», and from this, they have built the play. The work blends local anecdotes with the social atmosphere of the era.
