The project is currently in a citizen participation phase before the final design is defined. This intervention affects a green space that was originally donated to the municipality by María Arana Gaiztarro and, according to the City Council, is currently in a state of deterioration, necessitating its renovation.
The objective is to adapt the environment to current needs and enhance its use as a reference space in the neighborhood. The participatory process includes an online questionnaire, interviews, and workshops open to citizens to gather various contributions on the future of the space. This work will be supported by the company Aztiker.
The City Council has emphasized that special importance will be given to the participation of children and youth, cultural diversity, and the involvement of groups with less usual presence in these types of processes, with the aim of collecting as many contributions as possible and having a broad and representative vision of public space use.
Within the planned schedule, two participatory workshops have been organized, to be held on June 10 and 11 in María Arana Gaiztarro Park itself. In these sessions, residents, associations, and municipal representatives will be able to participate to analyze needs and propose ideas for the future design of the area.
Additionally, a questionnaire remains open on the municipal website (www.beasain.eus) for citizens to submit their contributions during this phase of the project. The proposals collected will serve as the basis for drafting the technical project, which will incorporate the conclusions of the participatory process before its final definition.
In this context, the planned urban elevator between Kale Nagusia and Esteban Lasa kalea is considered one of the main actions. The infrastructure will overcome the existing elevation difference and improve accessibility. The City Council has stated that the goal is for the final project to respond to the needs identified in the environment and the daily use that citizens make of the public space.
