The Beasain City Council and S.D. Beasain are collaborating to install a giant screen in Bideluze Square, enabling residents to watch the Copa del Rey final that Real Sociedad will play this Saturday in Seville. The initiative was officially presented today at the Loinaz municipal football field, aiming to transform the match into a shared experience.
During the announcement, Mayor Leire Artola and S.D. Beasain President Kepa Lasa explained the project's details. The match is scheduled to kick off at 9:00 PM at La Cartuja stadium, and a large turnout of fans is expected, both at the Loinaz field and in other locations where the game will be keenly followed.
“"We have listened to the citizens and wanted to respond to this collective enthusiasm to experience this moment together. We believe it is an opportunity to strengthen the sense of community and a special night, which we hope will end with a victory."
This initiative originated from a proposal by local residents, which the council quickly supported. S.D. Beasain joined from the outset, actively collaborating in the organization. Lasa emphasized that football is experienced differently when shared, and this final deserves such a communal celebration, offering a unique occasion for the town to unite and enjoy.
The City Council highlights that this proposal extends beyond merely broadcasting a match; it seeks to create an open meeting space for all citizens, where sport serves as a unifying element. The mayor added that they want it to be a celebration, a healthy and participatory environment inclusive of all ages.
Furthermore, the final holds special significance for Beasain due to the presence of two local players in Real Sociedad: Aritz Elustondo and Beñat Turrientes. They represent a direct link between the municipality and the txuri-urdin club, generating additional excitement among fans. In anticipation of potential rain, the City Council is working on an alternative to ensure the event proceeds smoothly.
