Baskonia A Dominates Ordizia Orkli; Ordizia Hotel Ordizia Secures Hard-Fought Victory

Ordizia's basketball teams faced contrasting outcomes in their recent games: Ordizia Orkli was outmatched by Baskonia A, while Ordizia Hotel Ordizia clinched a hard-fought victory against CD Internacional Mons.

The Ordizia Orkli junior team, coached by Héctor and Pablo, competed against Baskonia A in the semifinal of the Basque League Final Four at Mendizorroza. Despite being unable to train for the two weeks prior, the team approached the challenge with great enthusiasm, though their opponents demonstrated clear physical and defensive superiority from the outset.
In the first half, the Ordizia players managed to stay in the game, but Baskonia A's defensive intensity and dominance in rebounds made it difficult for them to develop their play. At halftime, the score was 37-26, with the home team progressing thanks to individual efforts. In the second half, however, the gap widened considerably, with a 39-11 run for Baskonia A, attributed to Ordizia Orkli's soft defense and lack of attacking drive.
In the final quarter, the Ordizia team showed a slight improvement in offense, moving the ball more and offering more attractive basketball. They managed to win that quarter, although the final score was 92-57 in favor of Baskonia A. Despite the defeat, the coaches expressed pride, emphasizing that reaching the top four teams in Euskadi is a significant achievement.
Meanwhile, Ordizia Hotel Ordizia secured a hard-earned victory against CD Internacional Mons with a score of 77-73 in an early match. The Ordizia team started the game well, with accurate field goals and solid defense. However, in the second quarter, they slowed their pace after taking the lead, as they only had eight players and needed to manage playing minutes carefully.
After the break, with the score at 37-28, they aimed to increase the tempo to decisively break the game, but the strategy did not work. Due to poor decisions and permissive defense, CD Internacional Mons took an eight-point lead with four minutes remaining. Nevertheless, the Ordizia players reacted after a timeout, closing to within one point with 22 seconds left. The team from Donostia extended their lead to three, but in a masterful play after another timeout, Ordizia scored a three-pointer to tie the game. In overtime, the Ordizia players gave their all, making good decisions and securing the victory.
