“"The Gipuzkoa Street Cleaning Collective Agreement does not regulate the specific characteristics of the Zubieta incinerator plant, which operates similarly to an industrial plant. It does not regulate the 24-hour, 7-day-a-week shift system, nor a daily on-call service they are trying to implement in the maintenance department, much less the biological risk that workers face daily."

Workers at the Zubieta incinerator will go on strike on May 12, 19, and 26, and will mobilize in front of the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council headquarters to demand dignified working conditions.
According to the LAB union, employees continue their struggle after a year of meetings and four months of mobilizations. They denounce that the companies Ekobal and Ekondakin show no willingness to move towards a company agreement, and also criticize the continuous irresponsibility of GHK and the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council.
For this reason, the workers of the Zubieta incinerator want to agree on a company agreement that regulates their specific working conditions. The employees are part of a complex business network: Ekondakin is the concessionaire company of the public contract, and this, in turn, subcontracts Ekobal to work at the incinerator. Both companies are temporary joint ventures with the participation of the large company Urbaser.
Mobilizations have been carried out since the beginning of the year, including two mornings in April in front of the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council headquarters. Previously, they also held demonstrations at the Zubieta workplace and up to the Bugati gas station. Workers have denounced the companies' lack of willingness to negotiate dignified working conditions from the outset.
